Manufacturer: SEGA Pinball Inc 1995 Features: 6-Player 13-Ball Multiball, Video Mode, moving Saturn V rocket, high-speed ramps & loops, moon orbit, 9 missions and much more
APOLLO 13: When the Saturn V rocket was launched on April 11, 1970, as part of the Apollo 13 mission for a manned landing on the moon, no one at NASA suspected that 25 years later, this failed mission would be filmed and SEGA would turn it into a pinball machine with outstanding and unique game features. The machine looks as if NASA engineers had designed and constructed it themselves, but this praise goes to the developers and designers at SEGA, who did not skimp on ingenious ideas. On the space design playing field, which is built with numerous high-speed ramps and loops, there is the moon, whose gravitational pull holds the balls in place, and a detailed Saturn 5 rocket that, depending on the number of hits, straightens up into the starting position and even (simulates) takes off. The soundtrack of Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky” as background music ensures the necessary weightlessness when playing the pinball. Original sayings from the crew Jack Swigert and Fred Haise, and the most famous saying from commander Jim Lovell: “Houston, we’ve had a problem,” ensure tension that sends goosebumps down your spine. In video mode, the player tries to land the space capsule on the moon, and with a lot of skill, the unique 13-ball multiball is triggered. You play with 13 balls at once. “Is everything OK with you? This is ground control!”
