An alien symbiote that bonds with various hosts, including former Spider-Man antagonist Eddie Brock, Venom first appeared in the 1980s comic book series The Amazing Spider-Man. The symbiote grants its host superhuman strength and agility, and provides creative and versatile powers from its material. With his unique and visually striking appearance, Venom quickly became one of Marvel’s most recognizable and popular characters. Venom has inspired numerous products, including action figures, apparel, collectibles, and now pinball machines – cementing his ongoing influence on popular culture in arcades and entertainment venues around the world.
Stern’s Venom pinball machines immerse players in the chaos of this anti-hero’s Marvel Universe, with more than 20 characters including Eddie Brock, Flash Thompson, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Black Suit Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Riot, Agony, Lasher, Phage, Doppelgänger, Venomized Hulk, Venomized Wolverine, and Venomized Captain America. Venom’s arch-nemesis Carnage collects codices to awaken Knull, the God of the Symbiotes. Venom must stop Carnage by fighting through his army of symbiotes and infected to prevent him from taking over the world.
As Venom, players will select a host to bond with at the start of each match, transforming the entire gameplay experience both physically and digitally. Vertical flippers lock on symbiote containment vessels located on either side of the playfield, locking the balls in place and quickly releasing them for constant action as players explore shots through the mechanically changing pathways of Agro-Lab and Life Foundation. Players will launch an interactive, custom-designed Carnage prisoner ball back into the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. Additionally, a surprise doppelgänger attack can be unleashed at any time, revealing three boost targets to wreak havoc.
Canvasing the Venom Pinball Experience is a collection of hand-drawn, comic-style art by renowned artist Jeremy Packer (aka Zombie Yeti). Depending on which host you choose, players will hear a variety of different styles of music throughout the game, including over a dozen tracks from GRAMMY Award-winning musician Mark Tremonti.
Venom pinball machines include Stern’s award-winning Insider Connected™ system, which allows players to interact with the game and a global network of players in a variety of ways. Through Insider Connected, players can save their game progress through persistent connectivity, allowing everyone to become an (anti)hero as the game progresses to reach the final Wizard Mode at the end, no matter how many tries it may take.
Additionally, Insider Connected allows players to track progress, earn new game-specific achievements, engage with the player community, and participate in promotions and challenge quests. Insider Connected also provides an operator-facing toolset to drive local play through location leaderboards, build player loyalty, analyze performance, make remote adjustments, and maintain games.
